Ok, here's the splurb, bio, faq... call it what you will section. I have been a full-time professional photographer for ages. I graduated from Napier College, now University, in Edinburgh, Scotland, I spent a wee while roughnecking in the North Sea before immigrating to the USA. I was a Certified Retinal Angiographer, which means I discovered what it means to be a professional photographer, and also that I photographed eyeballs and anything pertaining to the eye for 15 years. So, what does it mean to be a professional photographer? Simply put it means that you get the images every time! No excuses. No whining about rain, wind, bright sun, small churches, church ladies or church rules, dark reception locations or anything!….Bring ‘em on! To my way of thinking wedding photography is more about straightforward photographic documentation rather than some dog & pony photographic sideshow, the less people in my entourage the less noticed I will be, so generally speaking "Nope, I don't use an assistant unless the size and scope of the ceremony & reception are such that one would be a little foolish to not bring an assistant. |

Which brings us to the two most often asked questions; “Do you take any formal photos?” Yes I absolutely, positively do shoot formal portraits at each & every wedding, rather well if I might add.. So if you let me have 15 - 30 minutes or even more if you wish, we'll make some great images. I promise you it will be swift & painless and it usually is a lot of fun. "What's your philosophy on wedding photography?" Good grief, are you serious? "Wedding Photography Philosophy 101?" oops! guess I either skipped or slept through that class. Seriously, who was the bright spark who came up with that one? End of philosophic rant! On Second thoughts; here is my condensed philosophy on wedding photography, call me if you'd like a more detailed expanation. Weddings are like "tribal gatherings"; two, sometimes more, tribes come together to witness and celebrate the birth of a new "tribe" as it were. I'm a "tribal storyteller" so I get my eye and brain into gear Keep out of the way and Find the images! So, there you go, photographic philosophy in a nutshell. Equipment? Well it may look somewhat battle-scarred, however it sure does work and I have plenty of it! Me? Well I'm not looking too battle-scarred yet and I do work my rear end off. Sorry, no tux or kilt, however I do dress smartly and always have extra shirts, pants and shoes (polish too) in the car. The accent? What accent? It's Scottish. Born and raised there, received my initial formal photographic education at Napier University in Edinburgh prior to immigrating. Many photographers have asked me variations of the same question; "How come you get all the great weddings with all those great people & locations with all the great images?" My response is always the same; "The images are there at each and every wedding, you just have to look & see". My Gallery & Office is located in Bayonne, NJ, fifteen minutes from the Holland Tunnel, and my office hours are : Monday-to Fridays 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Evening hours: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesdays & Thursday by appointment. Weekend hours? Well if I'm available, I'd love to meet with you, call and check. |
